•Be attentive.
•Be tolerant.
•Use proper language
2.Mach die Arbeit / Do assignments!
•Complete all missed work due to absence in a timely manner.

4.Sei immer vorbereitet / Always be prepared!
•Bring your covered textbook, a notebook, and pen/pencils each day.
•Be ready in your assigned seat when the bell rings.
•Complete homework on a regular basis.
1. Arriving to class
Attendance in class for the entire period each day is necessary for you to complete the course successfully. Being late adds up.
2. Absences
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE UP THE WORK YOU MISS!
•Homework must be completed at the beginning of the class period.
•If you are returning from an excused absence, you may make-up HW assignments and submit for credit. You have as many days as missed to complete class work/homework and it is your responsibility to hand it in.
•Any major project or writing assignment will be penalized as follows if late:
1 Tag spät = 15% deduction
2 Tag spät = 25% deduction
3 Tag spät = 50% deduction
3. Bathroom/Locker Privileges
At the end of the class period, you should remain seated until the bell rings. If you need to use the bathroom,
please ask in German, “Darf ich bitte zur Toilette gehen?” and then sign out. Choose to use the hall pass during “down time” and fill the sign-out sheet in the notebook immediately. You must also sign back in. Special passes for the nurse, office, guidance office are written out separately. CLASS TIME IS VALUABLE!
4.Class Participation/Speaking
Foreign language is not a spectator sport – so challenge yourself! Learning a language requires practice. Unless you are well-disciplined and practice at home, most of your practice will be in class. Always put forth your best effort in your speaking, writing, listening and reading. This year speaking practice will come from a phone call you will make through Google Voice; 717-744-8188.
5.Consequences
If a student’s behavior or attitude becomes problematic, the following steps will be taken:
1.Warning / Retraining
2.Discussion with teacher outside of class along with a noon detention
3.Two or more noon detentions or an after school detention and phone call to parent/guardian
4.Administrative action and a phone call home
** Severe incidents Students will be sent to the office along with a parent phone call
6.Grades & Assignments
Grades will be a percentage as defined by the school district. Therefore, you will receive a grade based on the
points you earn on homework, tests, quizzes, and projects. There will also be a balance of group and individual projects that you are expected to complete. Retakes below a 70% are allowed, but proper procedures need to
be in place before something is retaken.
7.Homework
Homework will be assigned almost daily as a review of information presented in class. Homework WILL be checked at the BEGINNING of class for completion & you’ll be expected to correct your own work.
8.Preparation
You must complete homework, assigned work and come to class prepared. This will be evident in class discussions or
activities. We will begin each class with a warm-up that relates to information from the previous day. You will have approximately 5 minutes to complete it, so you must be ready immediately.
9.Teacher contact & extra help
Please feel free to contact me regarding any issues that arise. If you want extra help outside class, please see me. I am available before school from 7:00 until 7:20 or I can schedule 30 minutes for you after school with advance notice. You will need to come prepared with specific questions on topics with which you are struggling.
